We’re excited to be venturing across the Forth of Firth to be a part of the Waste Futures Labs art and science weekender!
This session brings together art, science, and environmental curiosity through practical, accessible activities.
In this session you’ll use soil chromatography to assess soil health, create your own take-home self-contained microbial ecosystem, and microscopes will be available throughout, offering close‑up views of microbial life and fresh perspectives on local ecosystems. Throughout the session we’ll discuss the environment in the Kirkcaldy aea, waste legacies and imagine waste cultures as a force for positive change in the context of climate change.
No prior experience needed—just curiosity and a willingness to get hands-on.
This is a free ticketed event. Please book to help us manage numbers and to avoid disappointment!

People of all ages are welcome but please bear in mind the following event information. This event will include walking approximately 1km along the seafront at Seafield Beach. The event will last for approximately 3 hours and we will be outside for some of the time.
The route is mainly on solid surfaces but some sections have steps and there may be some uneven ground. Please wear appropriate footwear for walking, and check the weather forecast and dress accordingly.

After the beach walk, the workshop will move to Greener Kirkcaldy’s Community Space: Greener Kirkcaldy, Lang Spoon Community Space, 8 Fergus Place, KY1 1XT.
