Our Team

Keira realised the limitations of scientific research in creating solutions during her PhD in microbiology and strongly believes in a holistic, interdisciplinary approach in solving problems. Her creative nature, passion for imparting an interest in science through establishing more exciting ways of communicating scientific principles and discoveries to the general public led her to join ASCUS in 2021. Her areas of expertise include antimicrobial susceptibility testing, culturing, molecular techniques, water monitoring and biofilm cultivation.

Since joining ASCUS she has worked with artists, helping them create artwork using scientific techniques and equipment, worked across disciplines to develop and deliver learning programmes and public engagement events, managed interdisciplinary projects, and is responsible for the overseeing the day-to-day operations of ASCUS.

Keira Tucker, ASCUS Manager

Sanika works across lab R&D, supporting the biotech research of collaborators and providing scientific consultation for creative practitioners working across disciplines. With a background in synthetic biology and industrial microbiology, she contributes to interdisciplinary projects through development, experimental coordination, and mentoring. Since joining ASCUS, she has worked closely with artists and researchers, contributed to the development of learning programs and public engagement initiatives, and currently manages the day-to-day Laboratory operations and training sessions at ASCUS.

Alongside her scientific practice, Sanika is also a science illustrator, using visual storytelling and enjoys the experimental approaches to make complex scientific ideas more accessible and engaging.
