‘We began as part of the body’
Through this series of immersive artworks, inspired by the eczema genetic research laboratory of Prof Sara Brown, Beverley Hood reflects complex human and ethical questions about our relationship between the body, science and technology.
‘Oscillations’
Inspired by science and the complex inter-relatedness of the physical world, this exhibition reflects Victoria Evans’ interest in the way distant or invisible phenomena, such as the forces of gravity, can have a tangible effect on our day-to-day lives.
‘E Numbers V2.0’
Probing the habitats of the ‘un-natural‘, Sneha Solanki presents a new and expanding rendition of the ‘E-Number’ food additive system, focusing on the micro-organisms that have been intentionally and genetically altered, created or re-programmed.Entanglements of Time and Tide | Online Exhibition
Presented by ASCUS Art and Science

Entanglements of Time and Tide, is an artistic engagement, by India based artist Sonia Mehra Chawla, with the North Sea and its tidal zones. The works are a result of the artists collaboration with ASCUS Art & Science and Marine Scotland from 2019-2021 and an intensive International Art & Science residency (in 2019) in ASCUS Lab. ‘Vital to Life’
This online exhibition of photomicrographs and digital prints explores and imagines an oceanic worldview of entangled histories and symbiotic relationships, making the invisible world of microorganisms visible, and revealing hidden worlds lying beyond the scope of the human eye.
‘The Non-Human Touch’
‘In the Anthropocene, noticing and observing microbial worlds is more essential than ever.’ In her latest film, Sonia Mehra Chawla advocates for live-able collaborations, and rethinking bacteria as partners in health, endurance and survival of all living beings.
‘Vital to Life’
In her film, ‘Vital to Life ’, Sonia Mehra Chawla works with archival historical slides and samples from the North Sea. Filmed almost entirely through microscopes, these works make the invisible world of microorganisms visible, while imagining an oceanic worldview of entangled histories and symbiotic relationships.Catalysing Creativity: Stories of Change | Online Exhibition
Presented by ASCUS Art and Science in partnership with ScotCHEM

Catalysing Creativity: Stories of Change is a new digital exhibition highlighting molecular science and artistic approaches as a lens through which to investigate the concept of change, featuring collaborations between artist Romain Viguier and scientist Dr. Mairi Haddow, and artist Honza Turnovsky and scientist Dr Amanda Jarvis. Self Assemblage
Through this sculpture series, Romain Viguier and Dr. Mairi Haddow reflect on how society reacts to change, using art and aspects observed amongst ordered and disordered molecules in materials and crystals, asking can we learn from nature’s own innate ability to self organise and it’s seemingly endless capability to successfully change and restructure
Sciennes Place
Through artistic inquiry into the ways a largely forgotten and religiously sensitive place can be reactivated in people’s minds these works by Honza Turnovsky and Dr Amanda Jarvis seek to create new points of access to research, questioning, what are the implications of unnatural activation of dormant powers in science and culture.Events Programmme
