An Artiscience Library/SEICA Symposium on
C. H. WADDINGTON (“Wad”), D’ARCY WENTWORTH THOMPSON (“DWT”) et al.
In association with The Demarco European Art Foundation
and ASCUS Art & Science
TUESDAY, 30th MAY, 2017. VENUE: SUMMERHALL, THE RED LECTURE ROOM
SCHEDULE:
Attendees shall be welcome briefly to visit the ASCUS Lab and / or the Artiscience Library.
This symposium is occasioned by the return visit to Edinburgh of Dr Charissa Terranova, Associate Professor of Aesthetic Studies in the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas).Charissa’s strong publication record includes most recently The Routledge Companion to Biology and Art, co-edited with Meredith Tromble (2016). She is currently working on a monograph connecting biology, embryology, and genetics to cybernetic art in the UK during the twentieth century, in which Wad played a major part; and on an anthology on DWT.
The meeting brings together some who worked with “Wad” and in related areas, with others who remain stimulated by his and DWT’s inexhaustible polymathic and artiscient legacy: providing an unique opportunity for those to whom these names are new, to learn about these towering figures.
Price: £10 (concessions £7).
Tickets available through the Summerhall Box Office / 0131 560 1580.
We regret the Lecture Theatre is accessed by a short flight of steps, so is inaccessible to wheelchairs
